How could I barely have known this guy? We appeared on television together, on South's High-Q team. He was even editor of our literary magazine, which shouldn’t have been underneath my radar but was.

I think he transferred to South junior year, so there wasn’t much time to get to know him, but he was active in a bunch of clubs and honor societies and represented South at the International Relations League’s state convention. Pleasant person.

I think he died of a brain tumor. Here’s a death notice from Lewis & Clark College:

Lamar Faulkner '73, May 27, 2006, age 55. An attorney with a private practice, he was active in several campaigns for political candidates in Seattle. He was a passionate duplicate bridge player and studied software development programming languages.

He played bridge, too? I've been addicted to that game since college. Lamar and I should have been close friends. It's my loss.
